Tunisia re-elected to African Telecommunications Union board

Tunisia has secured a new mandate on the Administrative Council of the African Telecommunications Union (ATU), reaffirming its commitment to shaping the continent's digital future. The election, held on July 24, 2026, during the ATU's 7th Plenipotentiary Conference in Abuja, Nigeria, will see Tunisia serve a second term from 2027 to 2030.

This re-election underscores the trust and confidence placed in Tunisia by its African peers. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, the country is recognized as an active partner in advancing digital transformation and fostering continental cooperation in telecommunications and information and communication technologies (ICTs).

Tunisia's continued presence on the ATU's governing body will enable it to play a crucial role in defining the strategic direction of the telecommunications sector across Africa. The nation aims to bolster collaboration in key areas such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and capacity building.
