Tunji-Ojo-Backed Group Launches Voter Education Drive in Ondo Ahead of 2027 Election

A political support group backed by Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has begun a statewide campaign to persuade more residents of Ondo State to vote in Nigeria’s 2027 general election.

The BTO Coalition Platform for PBAT 2027 held a voter-sensitisation rally in Ikare-Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko North-East Local Government Area. Coalition president Adesina Abubakar said the initiative responded to weak participation in the last election.

Due to what we observed in the last election, we discovered that voter turnout in Ondo State was not encouraging. We had about 1.9 million registered voters, but only about 300,000 people voted.

“We had about 1.9 million registered voters, but only about 300,000 people voted,” Abubakar said. He said the coalition wanted to educate residents about their voting rights, encourage participation and win support for President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

This time around, we want to educate and enlighten people about the forthcoming elections and encourage support for PBAT 2027.

Abubakar described Tinubu’s re-election as non-negotiable and said the group would work to deliver more than one million votes for him in Ondo State. The coalition’s United Kingdom coordinator, Sam Adegbite, said the rallies would strengthen grassroots mobilisation and provide political education.

The group is also presenting what it calls Tinubu’s achievements and Tunji-Ojo’s contributions to development in Ondo State. The campaign is framed as an effort to prevent voter apathy while building support for the president’s re-election bid.

Our task is to inform the people of Ondo State about their voting rights, encourage them to participate in the electoral process and vote for the candidates of their choice.
