Turban X brings message of faith on Hill And Gully Riddim

New York-based artist Turban X has released "From The Gully to The Hills," a spiritual track featured on producer Stephen McGregor's highly anticipated "Hill And Gully Riddim." The riddim, which generated significant buzz in dancehall circles even before its April release, has attracted a host of top and emerging artists.

Turban X's song carries a message of faith, urging listeners to "praise God no matter the circumstance. Whether rich or poor, high or low, sick or healthy." He recalls hearing the original "Hill And Gully" folk song as a child in Jamaica and appreciates McGregor's modern interpretation, which he believes appeals to a younger generation.

His (McGregor) revisions gave it a modern feel and that appeals to the younger generation.

Stephen McGregor's production infuses the traditional Jamaican folk song, typically performed by mento bands, with a contemporary feel. "From The Gully to The Hills" is one of many songs released on the uptempo riddim. Masicka's "Slip & Slide" was the first track released, followed by contributions from artists like Anthony B, Chronic Law, and Valiant.

Turban X, who began his recording career 17 years ago with the song "Jah Love," continues to build his catalog with this latest release. Other previous songs include "My Jamaica" and "Kings And Queens."
