Türkan Şoray Reflects on Career and Mourns Kadir İnanır at Istanbul Event

Legendary Yeşilçam actress Türkan Şoray was the guest of honor at a "Summer Cinema Evening and Talk" event hosted by the Sultangazi Municipality in Istanbul. The beloved star engaged with the audience, sharing insights into her life and career, followed by a screening of her iconic film 'Sultan' for the gathered crowd.

Şoray began by warmly greeting the residents of Sultangazi, expressing her long-held desire to visit the district. She conveyed her happiness at finally being there and thanked the attendees for coming. The actress acknowledged the recent, profound loss of a dear friend and colleague, stating, "Our sorrow is very fresh. Turkish cinema has suffered a great loss for its friends, colleagues, and peers. But I am sure he will always be in your hearts. He will always be in my heart, may he rest in peace."

Speaking about the passing of fellow Yeşilçam icon Kadir İnanır, Şoray shared her deep sadness. "We are experiencing the deep sorrow of losing Kadir İnanır. That's why we are sad. May his place be heaven. My audience is always my crown; my respect is infinite, which is why I always make an effort to greet them standing. I'm glad I came; I am very happy to be here with you," she said.

Şoray also pledged her support for the ongoing construction of the Sultan City Culture Island and Cinema Museum, calling it a "very valuable project." She promised to assist in any way she could and expressed her willingness to attend the museum's opening. Sultangazi Mayor Abdurrahman Dursun lauded Şoray as a "first name that comes to mind when we talk about cinema" and expressed his joy in hosting her, acknowledging her sadness over İnanır's death but thanking her for attending nonetheless. The event concluded with Şoray and the mayor watching the film 'The Girl with the Red Scarf' with the attendees.
