Turkey, Egypt working to heal Gazans' wounds, ambassador says

Turkey is actively engaged with Egypt to alleviate the suffering of Gazans and find solutions to their problems, stated Turkish Ambassador to Cairo, Salih Mutlu Şen. He asserted that Palestinians, like all peoples, are entitled to live in peace and dignity in their homeland, emphasizing that the Palestinian cause is inseparable from its people.

During an event hosted at the ambassador's residence, which brought together approximately 270 Palestinian and Egyptian families, Şen highlighted Turkey's unwavering support since the war's outset. He stressed that Turkey has consistently amplified Palestinian voices in international forums. The ambassador also noted Turkey's pivotal role in a peace plan signed on October 13, 2025, involving Egypt, the United States, and Qatar, and affirmed ongoing efforts to implement this plan in Gaza.

Palestinians have the right, like all peoples, to live on their land in their state, in peace, tranquility, and security, free with dignity.

Ambassador Şen reiterated that Turkey, guided by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's directive to support the oppressed, will not allow the Palestinian issue to fade from global attention. He mentioned ongoing coordination with Egypt and Qatar as mediators to transition to the next phase of the peace process in Gaza and to compel Israel to adhere to its initial commitments. Şen urged the Palestinian people to remain steadfast and hold onto their land.

Turkey continues to mobilize its capabilities since the first day of the war, and continues to convey the voice of the Palestinians in all forums.

He further pointed out that Israel has not abandoned its plans to displace Gazans, citing the intentions of extremist groups within the Israeli government to impose a unilateral blockade on Gaza and fragment the West Bank through illegal settlements. Şen stated that these intentions are now widely rejected by the international community. He also acknowledged Egypt's compassionate embrace of over 100,000 Gazans and stressed the necessity of providing possible economic support to those temporarily residing in Egypt, in coordination with Egyptian authorities and institutions.
