Turkey: Ortahisar Municipality moves disability support applications online

Ortahisar Municipality in Turkey is enhancing social inclusion by transitioning the application process for its 'Disability Life Park Rest Stop' to an online platform. This digital shift aims to simplify and expedite access to services for individuals with special needs and their families.

The 'Disability Life Park Rest Stop,' operated by the Ortahisar Municipality's Social Services Directorate, is designed to foster social development among individuals with special needs. It also provides temporary respite and support for their families. The service is available to citizens of the Republic of Turkey who reside in the Ortahisar district, are between 15 and 30 years old, and have a disability rating between 40% and 80%, with the ability to manage their personal care.

Under the new online system, eligible individuals can submit applications quickly and easily through the municipality's digital platforms. Participants will receive services up to four times a month, with sessions scheduled on weekdays between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM, and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Participants will be grouped based on age, disability type, and level, with services provided in groups of no more than three. In emergency situations, an additional individual with special needs can also utilize the facility. Applicants must schedule appointments at least two days in advance.

Ortahisar Mayor Ahmet Kaya emphasized the municipality's commitment to creating an inclusive Ortahisar. "We are resolutely continuing our work towards the goal of an inclusive Ortahisar," Kaya stated. "Through our Disability Life Park Rest Stop, we contribute to the development of our individuals with special needs while also providing support to their families. By moving applications online, we have made access to these services easier and faster for our citizens."
