Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan Sign 'Mecca Defense Pact'

Amid escalating tensions in the Gulf, nuclear power Pakistan, NATO member Turkey, and the influential Gulf monarchy Saudi Arabia have formalized a significant defense alliance. The pact, officially termed the "Mecca Defense Pact," was agreed upon during a meeting of the leaders of the three nations in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Official statements indicate that the agreement encompasses crucial areas of military cooperation. These include provisions for technology transfer, the exchange of intelligence between the member states, and the joint development of air defense capabilities.
