Turkey Weather Forecast: Showers, Thunderstorms, and Strong Winds Expected August 13

Turkey's General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has issued its weather report for August 13, 2026, predicting a day of varied weather conditions across the nation. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in the northern parts of the country and along the Mediterranean coast, with more localized rain anticipated in eastern Marmara, the Toros Mountains, the Black Sea region, northern East Anatolia, and parts of Çanakkale, Balıkesir, Osmaniye, Kırıkkale, Ankara, Yozgat, and Çankırı.

Residents in the Sinop, Samsun, Ordu, and Giresun provinces should prepare for locally heavy rainfall. The MGM has issued a warning for these areas due to the potential for intense downpours. While temperatures are expected to decrease slightly in the north, they will remain around seasonal norms in most other areas, with southern regions experiencing temperatures above average.

Strong winds are also a significant factor in the forecast. The Marmara and North Aegean regions are particularly vulnerable, with winds expected to blow from the north and northeast at speeds of 60-80 km/h, potentially reaching storm force. Similar strong winds are predicted along the coastlines, while other regions will experience lighter, intermittent breezes.

Specific forecasts for major cities include Istanbul with partly cloudy skies and intermittent showers, Ankara with partly cloudy conditions and potential afternoon thunderstorms in its northern and eastern areas, and Izmir with clear skies. Coastal cities like Antalya and Muğla are expected to be mostly clear and hot.
