Turkey Weather: Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms Expected in North and East

Turkey's General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has issued its weather forecast for Friday, June 28, 2026, indicating a mixed weather pattern across the country. The northern and eastern parts of the nation are expected to experience partly cloudy to very cloudy skies, with local showers and thunderstorms likely in the Eastern Black Sea coastal areas, eastern Samsun, Ordu province, and eastern Van and Hakkari.

Elsewhere, the weather is predicted to be mostly clear with few clouds. Regarding temperatures, they are anticipated to hover around seasonal averages in the northeastern and eastern regions. However, other parts of the country will experience temperatures 2 to 5 degrees Celsius above the seasonal norms, suggesting a continuation of warmer conditions in many areas.

Wind conditions are also a notable factor in the forecast. Winds will generally blow from the north in most regions, but from the south in the southeastern parts of the country. Light to moderate breezes are expected, but significant gusts of 40-60 km/h are forecast for specific areas. These include the southern and western parts of Marmara, the North Aegean coast, northern parts of the Eastern Mediterranean, southeastern İç Anadolu, and western Eastern Anatolia.

Regional breakdowns show varying conditions. Marmara will be mostly clear with strong northerly winds in its southern and western sections. The Aegean region will also be clear, with strong northerly winds along the North Aegean coast. The Mediterranean region will be clear, with strong northerly winds inland in the East Mediterranean. İç Anadolu will be clear, with strong northerly winds in its southern and eastern parts. The West Black Sea region will be partly cloudy. The Middle and East Black Sea regions will see partly to very cloudy skies with intermittent rain and thunderstorms, particularly along the coast and in eastern Samsun and Ordu. Eastern Anatolia will be partly to very cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms expected in eastern Van and Hakkari.
