Turkey: Zero Waste Project recovers 74.5 million tons of waste

Turkey's "Zero Waste Project" has achieved a significant milestone, reclaiming 74.5 million tons of waste and channeling it back into the economy. This initiative not only addresses environmental concerns but also stimulates economic activity, particularly within the waste management equipment sector.

The burgeoning waste management industry is fostering new opportunities for companies that manufacture related equipment. Alperen Çakır, a partner at BDB Metal, highlighted how his company is capitalizing on this growth by leveraging integrated production capabilities. He noted that the increasing demand for diverse waste management solutions favors firms that can manage all production processes in-house, from cutting and shaping to welding and galvanizing.

Globally, the waste management equipment market is experiencing robust growth. A report by Fortune Business Insights projected the market to reach $33.63 billion by 2034, expanding at an average annual rate of 6.70%. Key drivers include accelerating urbanization, a rising volume of solid waste, and increasingly stringent environmental standards imposed by regulatory bodies. North America currently leads the market, but significant investments are also being made in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

Çakır emphasized that BDB Metal has established a strong export presence, supplying equipment to over 40 countries. The company aims to further increase its production capacity and export volume to capture a larger share of this expanding global market. He views the market's growth projections as a vital roadmap for industry players, underscoring the importance of integrated production and a broad product range to meet evolving global demands.
