Turkish Flag Damaged by Gunfire at Burdur Paragliding Site

A Turkish flag flying at Avşar Hill in Burdur, a well-known location for paragliding enthusiasts, has been damaged by gunfire. The flag, mounted on a 20-meter pole, was targeted by an unknown assailant using a hunting rifle.

Fatih Kılıçaslan, the provincial representative for the Turkish Air Sports Federation and president of the Burdur Paragliding Sports Club, strongly condemned the act. Kılıçaslan, who was at Avşar Hill preparing for the upcoming Turkish Paragliding Target Competition, expressed his deep disappointment and anger over the vandalism.

"We paragliders have been striving to beautify Avşar Hill for about 15 years; we have put a lot of effort into this place," Kılıçaslan stated. "We erected the flagpole here with our paraglider friends. We don't mind if people come here to eat and drink, but what is this, shooting bullets at the flagpole, shooting bullets at the flag? It's a heartbreaking situation. The attack on the flag is not pleasant at all. We condemn it with regret."

The incident has cast a shadow over the preparations for the national paragliding event, highlighting a disturbing act of disrespect towards a national symbol in an area cherished and maintained by the local sports community.
