Turkish leukemia survivors support veterans' rights protest

Young people who have overcome leukemia have voiced their support for Turkish veterans and relatives of martyrs currently staging a sit-in in Ankara. The protesters began their action on July 13 in Güvenpark, demanding equal rights and benefits regardless of rank.

The LÖSEV youth group, comprising individuals who have battled and recovered from leukemia, extended their solidarity to the demonstrators. They stated, "We understand you best. You fought terrorism for years, you fought for the indivisible integrity of the nation, you risked your lives. Similarly, we fought the leukemia monster for years, we couldn't live our childhoods."

The group highlighted their own struggles, noting that some among them lost limbs, eyes, or livers. "But we did not give up, we did not surrender for a single day. In the end, victory was ours, we won," they declared, drawing a parallel between their fight against cancer and the veterans' fight against terrorism.

Referring to LÖSEV founder Dr. Üstün Ezer, who declared them heroes upon their recovery, the youth group addressed the veterans and martyrs' relatives: "We are visiting you as our heroes. You did not sell our nation by defeating the terror monster. You are heroes to the entire Turkish nation." They expressed their support and wished them success in their struggle, emphasizing that the veterans are in the hearts of the Turkish people.
