Turkish sports journalist detained for 'fake news' on player transfer

Turkish sports journalist Burhan Can Terzi faced detention over claims of disseminating misleading information, sparking significant reactions on social media.

The journalist was arrested for allegedly spreading false news regarding the potential transfer of promising footballer Jamal Musiala to Galatasaray, a prominent Turkish club. Terzi had reported that the deal was nearing completion, but the club's management subsequently denied these claims.

Interestingly, it was not the club but rather Galatasaray fans who publicly called out Terzi for sharing the unverified information about the Bayern Munich player's supposed move. This public scrutiny preceded his arrest on August 10.
