Turkish Sultans of the Net Beat Slovenia 3-1 for Second European Championship Win

The Turkish Women's National Volleyball Team secured a 3-1 victory over Slovenia in their second match of the Trendyol 2026 European Women's Volleyball Championship. This win gives the "Filenin Sultanları" (Sultans of the Net) a 2-0 record in Group A, while Slovenia experienced their first defeat.

The match began evenly, but Turkey, led by Vargas, took control and won the first set 25-21. Slovenia fought back in the second set, with Pucelj, Sillah, and Planinsec scoring crucial points to win 25-22 and level the match at 1-1.

Turkey regained the advantage in the third set, establishing a 6-0 run to lead 16-10. They maintained their lead to win the set 25-17. Bolstered by strong crowd support, the national team, with effective play from Elif Şahin at the net, dominated the fourth set 25-16, clinching the match 3-1.

Turkey's next challenge is Hungary on Sunday at 7:00 PM local time in Istanbul. The team has already defeated Latvia 3-0 and Slovenia 3-1. The top four teams from each of the four groups will advance to the Round of 16.
