Turkish vice president accuses Netanyahu of putting Jews in a difficult position

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz said Benjamin Netanyahu’s actions had put Jews around the world in a difficult position, particularly those who do not want to be associated with the oppression of Palestinians.

Netanyahu himself has left Jews across the world in a hard place because of his actions. The Netanyahu government has put Jews who do not want to be a part of the oppression in a difficult position.

Yılmaz made the remarks at the first Muslim Diaspora Forum of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation member states in Ankara. His speech focused on solidarity with Palestinians and rejected Israel’s attempt to label opposition to its policies as antisemitism.

Yılmaz also said the Republic of Türkiye had never been antisemitic, despite claims by the Netanyahu administration.

He described the situation in Gaza as unprecedented and said the inability to implement United Nations resolutions, the weakening of international law and the protection of perpetrators showed the existing global order had only limited capacity to deliver justice. He linked the criticism to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s call that “The world is bigger than five.”

We will be both strong and in the right. Despite everything that has happened, we will continue working for a more just world without losing our hope in humanity.

Yılmaz said a dangerous mindset had emerged around the idea that power permits a state to do whatever it wants. Türkiye, he said, would continue providing humanitarian assistance to Gaza and defending the Palestinian cause on international platforms. He called on Muslim diasporas to bring Gaza’s voice to the public and decision-makers and to build what he described as an “Alliance of the Virtuous” or an “alliance of humanity.”
