Turn in Viktorka death case unsettles senators, who appeal to prosecutor Bradáčová

A change in the charge against the father of a three-year-old girl has unsettled a group of Czech senators, who want the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office to examine the decision.

Around 20 senators have asked Supreme State Prosecutor Lenka Bradáčová to review why the man’s accusation was changed from murder to intoxication. The request concerns the case involving the death of his daughter, Viktorka.

Police made the change on the basis of an expert assessment, according to their spokesperson. The assessment concluded that the father had been under the influence of drugs at the time of the act and was not legally sane.

The senators’ appeal puts the change in the case before Bradáčová’s office for review.
