TV 2 presenter Troels Mylenberg says his cancer is incurable

Danish journalist and TV 2 news presenter Troels Mylenberg says his cancer has returned and cannot be removed. “I feel fine and I am at work,” the 56-year-old told Ekstra Bladet. “Like other chronically ill people, I do my job as much as I possibly can.”

Mylenberg disclosed in September 2025 that he was receiving cancer treatment and that the disease had disappeared. He later described how sudden stomach pain in February 2025 led to a diagnosis of colon cancer that had spread to his liver, stomach and abdominal cavity.

After three months of chemotherapy, he underwent surgery to remove half of his colon, lymph nodes and metastases. He then received another three months of chemotherapy. Doctors subsequently told him he was cancer-free, and he returned to TV 2’s screen in November 2025.

He has now written down his thoughts and reflections in a book due to be published in one month. “It is not a self-help book. It is my story, and I hope it can help others,” he said. “I looked for such a book myself when I became ill, so if others can use what I have written, I would be absolutely delighted.”

Mylenberg has hosted TV 2’s major news broadcasts since 2021 and previously served as the station’s political editor. Before joining TV 2 in 2018, he worked as development director and editor-in-chief at Jysk Fynske Medier. He has covered Danish politics for many years and is married with four children. The Danish Cancer Society says more than 3,200 people develop colon cancer each year.
