Two alleged accomplices in attack on Cerimedo's ex-partner sent to jail in Bolivia

Bolivian authorities have ordered pre-trial detention for two individuals accused of being accomplices in the attempted assassination of Nadia Beller, the former partner of political advisor Fernando Cerimedo. The court mandated preventive detention for Roger Aguilera Céspedes, 41, and Paula Andrea Vargas Arispe, 39, who were sent to the Palmasola prison in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

Prosecutors allege that Aguilera Céspedes sold the firearm used in the attack to the alleged hitman, who remains at large. Vargas Arispe, identified as the alleged hitman's spouse, is suspected of expecting to profit from the crime if it had been successfully executed. Aguilera Céspedes reportedly received payment for providing the weapon.

Nadia Beller was discharged from the hospital on Saturday and has expressed her intention to provide a more extensive statement to the prosecution. She had previously testified less than 24 hours after the attack, shortly after undergoing surgery to remove bullet fragments. Judicial sources indicated she was "very shaken" during her initial testimony and focused solely on the events of the attack, without discussing her ex-partner's business dealings or political connections, which she later addressed in media interviews.
