Two brothers arrested over murder of Jashore Jubo Dal leader Rubel

Detective Branch police have arrested two brothers accused of murdering Jubo Dal leader Rubel Hossain in Jashore. Rabbi, 35, and Maruf, 33, were detained during a special operation in Faridpur, where they had allegedly been hiding since the killing.

The arrests were announced by DB Officer-in-Charge Sujon Kumar Sarker and confirmed by Md Tamal Hossain, president of the Jashore district unit of Jubo Dal. Both suspects come from Telidhanapura village in the Khajura area of Bagherpara upazila.

We are investigating their involvement in the killing and the motive behind the murder.

Police took the brothers to the crime scene after their arrest. Acting on information they provided, officers recovered locally made weapons allegedly used in the murder from a nearby rice mill. Investigators said they traced the brothers in Faridpur using information technology before conducting the raid.

Rubel, joint general secretary of the Bandabila union unit of Jubo Dal in Bagherpara, was hacked to death in broad daylight at Telidhanapura village on July 13. The suspects remain under interrogation. “We are investigating their involvement in the killing and the motive behind the murder,” Sujon Kumar said. He added that officials would disclose detailed information through a press conference or press release after the investigation ends.
