Two charged after bystander fatally shot outside bar

A man and a woman have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Shanice Brookes, who was described by police as an innocent bystander. Brookes, 30, a mother of one and a charity worker, sustained serious injuries outside the One Four One bar on West Street in Sheffield early Monday morning. She later died in hospital.

South Yorkshire Police have charged Jemele Rhone, 30, of Outram Road, Sheffield, with murder. Rhone also faces charges of possession of a firearm and possession of criminal property. Deiryen Dyce, 32, of Ellesmere Road North, Sheffield, has been charged with assisting an offender, possession of ammunition, possession of drugs with intent to supply, and possession of criminal property.

The pair were charged on Thursday night and have been remanded into custody. They are scheduled to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court. The incident occurred during a bank holiday weekend when Brookes was reportedly out with friends.

Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, which has led to charges against two individuals for serious offenses including murder and assisting an offender.
