Two Dead, Two Injured in Separate Road Accidents in Dhaka

Two individuals lost their lives and two others sustained injuries in separate road accidents that occurred in Dhaka's Airport and Mohakhali areas over the past day.

In the Airport Road area, 65-year-old Abdul Hai died around 10:30 pm yesterday after being struck by an unidentified vehicle near the APBN petrol pump. According to his brother-in-law, Rasel, Hai, originally from Gafargaon upazila in Mymensingh, was living in Uttara and employed by a private company. Passers-by rescued him and took him to Kurmitola General Hospital. He was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where he succumbed to his injuries around 12:30 am while undergoing treatment.

A separate incident occurred around 6:00 am today in Mohakhali's Amtali area, where a bus helper, identified as 35-year-old Rafik, was killed and two passengers, Rony (25) and Firoz (40), were injured when the bus lost control and overturned. Fire service personnel and Rony, who is also the deceased's brother-in-law, reported that the Bhati Bangla Express bus veered off course, hit a road divider, and overturned, causing injuries to several passengers. Firefighters transported the victims to DMCH, where doctors pronounced Rafik dead. Rony mentioned that Rafik, a resident of Mymensingh Sadar upazila, had only returned to work three days prior and was planning to visit his family that morning.

DMCH police camp Inspector Md. Faruk confirmed that the bodies are being held at the morgue for autopsy, while the injured individuals are receiving medical care.
