Two die as motorcycle, vehicle collide in Ogun

Two individuals, a man and a woman, were killed in a tragic road accident on Monday in Ogun State, Nigeria. The collision involved a motorcycle and a Dongfeng pickup vehicle.

The incident took place at Koto Ajala, within the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, as the motorcycle was traveling inbound towards Owode. According to the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the accident was attributed to excessive speed and the motorcyclist losing control.

An eyewitness reported that the motorcyclist lost control while descending a slope at Koto Ajala, outbound Owode, and subsequently rammed into the oncoming pickup truck. The impact was severe, resulting in the immediate death of both occupants on the motorcycle. No other injuries were reported from the accident.

The crash claimed the lives of the two occupants of the motorcycle, while no other injuries were recorded.

Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for TRACE, confirmed the fatalities. He stated that the motorcycle, bearing registration number FFF 689 HA, collided with the Dongfeng pickup, registered as GGE 200 KP. The bodies of the victims were evacuated by Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials to the Fakoya Hospital Morgue in Sagamu.

The damaged vehicles, the motorcycle and the pickup truck, have been taken to the local police station for further investigation. Traffic flow in the area was partially affected immediately after the crash but has since been restored thanks to the efforts of TRACE and FRSC officials managing the scene.
