Two firefighters injured in Clementi flat fire

Two Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) firefighters were injured by burns while engaged in a rescue operation at a Clementi apartment fire on Friday night. The incident occurred on the eighth floor of a building at Block 309, Clementi Ave 4, with SCDF receiving the alert around 11:10 p.m.

Upon arrival, emergency crews encountered the living room of the unit ablaze. Firefighters used two water jets to combat the flames, which were consuming items within the living area. They were forced to breach the unit's entrance to gain access.

During their efforts, the firefighters discovered an individual trapped inside the kitchen. This person was successfully rescued from the flat and transported to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. The two injured firefighters were also taken to Singapore General Hospital for treatment of their burn injuries.

As a safety measure, approximately 40 residents from the affected block were evacuated by police and SCDF personnel. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and CNA has reached out to SCDF for updates on the condition of the injured firefighters.
