Two Israeli soldiers wounded as military says Hezbollah fighter killed in southern Lebanon

The Israeli military said a Hezbollah fighter was killed during an exchange of fire in southern Lebanon, while two Israeli soldiers suffered light wounds.

Military spokesperson Ella Waweya said a Golani reconnaissance unit was conducting search operations in the al-Shaqif heights area when a Hezbollah member inside a building opened fire. Israeli forces returned fire and killed the fighter, she said.

Two Israeli soldiers were wounded in the clash and taken to hospital for treatment. Their families were notified. Waweya said the military later fired shells at the site where the fighter had taken cover and also struck Hezbollah weapons depots, headquarters and other infrastructure in the area.

Waweya said the Israeli military would not allow Hezbollah to harm Israeli citizens.
