Two killed in Minneapolis shooting, including suspect, as several officers are injured

Two people and the suspected gunman died after a shooting at an apartment building in central Minneapolis, while three police officers were among those injured.

Police spokesperson Garrett Parten said one shooting victim died at the scene and the other died later in hospital. Three injured officers were also taken to hospital. Two had suffered gunshot wounds and were in stable condition, with both expected to survive. One was shot in the leg, while another underwent surgery. Authorities had not clarified the third officer's injuries.

The suspect was also dead, although police had not said how the suspect died. Parten described the incident as “an incredibly tragic event” and offered condolences to the victims' families, the injured and their relatives.

The shooting took place on Wednesday afternoon in a residential building in the central part of the city, according to local officials and Associated Press reporting.
