Two nabbed as police recover stolen N7.5m Adamawa vehicle

The Adamawa State Police Command has successfully recovered a stolen Toyota Hilux vehicle and apprehended two individuals in connection with criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property. The arrests were made following a report by Aliyu Usman, who discovered that the vehicle he purchased for N7.5 million had been reported stolen.

According to a statement released by the command's spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the arrested suspects have been identified as Mustapha Suleiman of Wuro Hausa and Rabiu Garba, 38, of Jambutu, Yola North Local Government Area. Preliminary investigations indicate that the Toyota Hilux was stolen from Rivers State in June 2026 and subsequently transported to Adamawa State.

A suspect identified only as Mati is believed to be the individual who transported the stolen vehicle to Adamawa. Mati is currently at large, but authorities allege that he conspired with the two arrested individuals to sell the vehicle to the complainant, Aliyu Usman.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen from Rivers State in June 2026 and transported to Adamawa State by a suspect identified as Mati, who is currently at large. The fleeing suspect allegedly conspired with the two arrested persons and sold the vehicle to the complainant.

Upon realizing the vehicle was stolen, Usman promptly reported the matter to the police. Acting on this information, police operatives successfully arrested the two suspects and recovered the Toyota Hilux. The police have also traced the vehicle's original owner.
