Two Quito accidents injure four, cause road closures

Two traffic accidents in Quito on the night of July 24, 2026, left four people injured and caused road closures in the southern part of the capital. The Quito Fire Department responded to both incidents.

The more serious accident occurred in Alangasí, a rural parish in the Valley of Los Chillos. A vehicle lost control and plunged down a ravine. Firefighters provided pre-hospital care to three individuals involved. One occupant was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be rescued by emergency personnel.

A second accident was reported in Quitumbe, in southern Quito, involving a collision between two vehicles. One person received pre-hospital attention at the scene.

Due to the emergencies, Avenida Cóndor Ñan was closed in both directions. Response teams worked to clear the involved vehicles. Authorities advised drivers to exercise caution and use alternative routes in the affected areas. They also emphasized the importance of maintaining safe distances, reducing speed near accident zones, and heeding official recommendations to prevent future incidents.
