Two Singaporeans Among 47 Missing in Nepal Floods: Hiking Company

Two Singaporean nationals are among 47 people reported missing after devastating floods struck Nepal near its border with Tibet. The group, comprised of tourists and guides, was caught in the disaster, according to their tour company, Himalayan Glacier.

The missing individuals represent a diverse group of nationalities. Besides the two Singaporeans, the company confirmed 15 Australians, 10 Canadians, nine Nepalese, eight Americans, and two Britons are also unaccounted for. A dual Russian-American citizen is also part of the missing group. Seven Nepali guides are among those believed to be in the affected area.

Sanket Pandey, managing director of Himalayan Glacier, stated that the individuals are "still missing" and that their team is actively checking hospitals where victims are being brought. The founder of the US-based trekking company, Sagar Pandey, who also serves as the president for trekking agencies in Nepal, surveyed the flood-affected area by helicopter but was unable to land due to the conditions.

Most of the group were reportedly in the Rasuwagadhi area when the floods hit, with several having traveled into the town. The company is working to gather more information as rescue and search operations continue in the challenging terrain.
