Two survivors found after Indonesian ferry sinks, three others dead

Two survivors of the KM Nurul Salsa ferry sinking in Indonesia were found adrift after five days at sea, reporting that three other passengers died during the ordeal. The survivors, Asmal (24) and Nurmiati (46), were discovered by fishermen in the waters of Pangkep Regency, South Sulawesi, wearing life jackets and clinging to a floating object.

According to initial statements from the survivors, five people were initially adrift on the floating object. However, during their days at sea, three of them succumbed to the conditions. The survivors stated that they released the bodies of the deceased into the sea because they had begun to decompose.

Authorities are continuing search operations for any further survivors or bodies. The identities of the three deceased victims remain unconfirmed. Police are coordinating with neighboring regions to expand the search and follow up on any information regarding the incident. The location where the survivors were found is significantly distant from the initial accident site, complicating search efforts.
