Two suspected kidnappers linked to Edo murder arrested in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two individuals in Ijebu-Ode who are reportedly connected to a kidnapping and murder investigation in the Okada area of Edo State. The arrests were made following intelligence-led operations by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

The suspects, identified as Gafaru Adamu, 25, and Muhammed Sanni, 20, were initially apprehended by personnel of the Nigeria Forest Security Service. Preliminary findings suggest they are wanted in connection with the ongoing investigation into the kidnapping and murder of two hostages in Edo State. Intelligence gathered indicates the duo may be part of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate implicated in the crime.

Further intelligence gathered by the Command indicates that the suspects are alleged members of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate linked to the incident under investigation. During the course of the investigation, operatives recovered one pair of police camouflage uniform and three mobile phones from the suspects.

During the search of the suspects, officers recovered a pair of police camouflage uniforms and three mobile phones, which are considered crucial evidence. As the alleged offenses occurred outside Ogun State, the suspects and the recovered exhibits will be transferred to the Edo State Police Command, which holds primary jurisdiction over the case for further investigation and potential prosecution. Ogun State Police Commissioner Bode Ojajuni commended the operatives involved and stressed the command's commitment to preventing the state from being used as a haven for criminals.

The alleged offences under investigation occurred outside Ogun State. Consequently, in line with established inter-state policing procedures and existing collaboration among State Police Commands, the suspects and all recovered exhibits will be transferred to the Edo State Police Command, which has primary jurisdiction over the matter.
