Two Tanzanian police officers killed by vehicle while crossing road

Grief has descended upon the families, friends, and the Tanzania Police Force following the tragic deaths of two police officers in a road accident. Officers Izdory Michael and Rehema Magawa were killed on Tuesday evening in Maili Moja, Kibaha District, Coast Region.

The officers, who were on patrol with three colleagues, were fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing the Dar es Salaam-Morogoro Road at a designated pedestrian crossing. Coast Regional Police Commander Salim Morcase stated the incident occurred around 7:40 p.m. on August 25.

Following a farewell ceremony at the Coast Regional Referral Hospital, Tumbi, the officers' bodies were transported to their home regions. Izdory Michael's remains were taken to Rukwa Region, and Rehema Magawa's to Tanga Region for burial.

Commander Morcase recounted that the officers were attempting to cross the road towards Mkoani Street when a Noah vehicle collided with them. The accident has cast a shadow of sorrow over the region and the police force.
