Two vans fall from Mendoza bridge; one dead, five injured

A tragic accident unfolded in Guaymallén, Mendoza, on Saturday when two vans plummeted from the Acceso Este bridge. The incident claimed one life and left five people injured, including two children. The vehicles, a Nissan Kicks and a Jeep, were reportedly traveling on the bridge towards Alberdi street when they collided. Security footage captured the moment both vehicles veered off the right side and fell to the street below. Initial investigations suggest a brush between the vehicles on the Acceso may have caused the drivers to lose control. The Nissan Kicks landed upside down, while the Jeep fell nose-first, with both vehicles sustaining severe damage. Emergency services and police rushed to the scene following 911 calls. One adult died while receiving medical attention. The two injured children were taken to the Humberto Notti Pediatric Hospital; one suffered cardiac arrest but was stabilized, while the other sustained minor injuries. Two other adults were hospitalized, and the Jeep's driver received on-site treatment. The accident caused significant traffic disruptions as emergency crews worked to rescue those trapped and clear the scene. The investigation has been handed over to the 25th Police Station of Guaymallén.
