Tyméo case: Bryan Brigou’s phone remains missing as mystery deepens

Investigators returned to the site along the N97 near Onhaye on Friday, installing a white tent and spending hours clearing vegetation. Their apparent priority was to find Bryan Brigou’s missing mobile phone, which remains unaccounted for more than two months after the disappearance of Brigou and his son Tyméo.

The phone could contain important information, according to Me David Poelaert, who represents Tina Bernard, Tyméo’s mother. “I suppose the investigators are looking for Bryan’s phone, which surely contains a wealth of information. But the device is nowhere to be found,” he told HLN.

Brigou used the phone several times on June 27, the day he and Tyméo disappeared. He posted a photo on Snapchat, and Tyméo later spoke to his mother by phone. The device’s last signal came at about 3:15 p.m., near a newsstand where the father and son had bought fruit juice. It was not in the car when the vehicle was found in a parking area near Onhaye’s football field, nor was it found near the bodies.

The phone’s absence has raised questions because investigators recovered Brigou’s wallet and electronic monitoring bracelet near his body. Poelaert has also questioned how the phone could have disappeared under either a suicide scenario or a possible meeting with a drug dealer. The family has raised the possibility that a third party targeted the father and child over Brigou’s debts, pointing as well to the car’s position facing the bushes rather than being parked in reverse, which they say was his usual habit.

The autopsy found no indication that either victim had been stabbed or shot, although the forensic doctor could not completely rule that out. Poelaert said possible bullets could still be at the site where the bodies were discovered, providing another reason for the continued clearing operation. Toxicology tests are still under way and are expected to help move the investigation forward.
