U.S. Congressmen Murphy and Veasey Pay Tribute to Srebrenica Victims in Potočari

U.S. Representatives Greg Murphy and Marc Veasey visited the Potočari Memorial Center on Monday to honor the victims of the Srebrenica genocide.

The U.S. Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina said the visit reaffirmed America’s commitment to preserving the truth and promoting accountability. “We honor those lost and stand in solidarity with survivors,” the embassy said in a message published on X.

The report also describes the funeral of Ratko Mladić, the wartime commander of the Republika Srpska Army and a convicted war criminal at The Hague. Mladić was due to be buried at Topčider Cemetery in Belgrade with the highest military honors.

A number of political figures from Republika Srpska attended the service, including SNSD leader Milorad Dodik, the Serb member of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s presidency Željka Cvijanović, Prime Minister Savo Minić, Republika Srpska National Assembly President Nenad Stevandić, and Banja Luka Mayor Draško Stanivuković. Leaders from governing and opposition parties in Republika Srpska were also present.
