U.S. Embassy and PNG Partners launch major disaster response training in Lae

U.S. Embassy Port Moresby, in collaboration with Papua New Guinea's civil-military partners, officially opened a significant four-day field training exercise focused on disaster management and humanitarian assistance in Lae. The event, which commenced on August 11, is led by the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command’s Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (CFE-DM).

This initiative brings together various stakeholders to bolster the region's capacity to respond to natural disasters and humanitarian crises. The training emphasizes practical, hands-on exercises designed to improve coordination and effectiveness among participating agencies. By fostering these partnerships, the program aims to enhance preparedness and response mechanisms for future emergencies.
