UAE accuses Iran of attacking ADNOC ships in Strait of Hormuz, second incident in a week

The United Arab Emirates has accused Iran of launching an "act of piracy" against two ships belonging to its state-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) as they transited the Strait of Hormuz. The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the alleged hostile actions by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stating that Iran is using the vital waterway as a tool for economic pressure and blackmail.

According to the UAE's official news agency WAM, the ADNOC confirmed that two of its vessels were attacked on Thursday night. No injuries were reported, and the situation was reportedly under control. However, WAM and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not provide specific details about the ships, their cargo, or the extent of any damage.

This incident marks the second attack on ADNOC-related vessels within a week. The UAE had previously condemned Iran on August 8 for an attack on a ship associated with ADNOC as it passed through the strait. The repeated targeting of commercial shipping in this strategic waterway has heightened concerns about regional stability and the security of global energy supplies.

Iran's Foreign Ministry and the IRGC have not yet issued any official comments regarding the UAE's accusations.
