UAE Attorney-General Hosts Senior Government Delegation to Review Justice System and Digital Initiatives

Counsellor Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, the UAE Attorney-General, welcomed senior government officials at the Public Prosecution headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The meeting focused on reviewing the authority's critical role within the criminal justice system and showcasing its significant strides in digital transformation.

Officials were presented with an overview of the Public Prosecution's core responsibilities. This included its function in initiating and conducting criminal proceedings, representing the public interest, and thereby upholding the rule of law while safeguarding fundamental rights and freedoms. The delegation included notable figures such as Maryam Bint Ahmed Al Hammadi, Minister of State and Secretary-General of the Cabinet, and Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat.

A key aspect of the discussion revolved around the Public Prosecution's digital transformation journey. Participants were briefed on the progress made in digitizing judicial procedures and developing advanced digital systems and platforms. These initiatives have demonstrably enhanced operational efficiency, accelerated case processing times, and improved the overall quality of data and services provided.

The meeting also highlighted the Public Prosecution's forward-thinking artificial intelligence strategy. This includes innovative tools such as the "Virtual Prosecutor Assistant," designed to support legal research and case analysis, and the "Bayan Smart Translation Centre," which offers instant translation of investigation and judicial documents. The authority also detailed plans to expand the use of Agentic AI and advanced analytics, aligning with the UAE Government's broader AI adoption strategy. These technological advancements aim to boost productivity and decision-making quality within a secure digital environment, while emphasizing that ultimate judicial authority remains with human officials.
