UBA approves H1 2026 accounts, appoints Puri director pending CBN nod

United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) has announced the approval of its audited financial statements for the first half of 2026. The bank's board gave the go-ahead during a meeting on August 13, 2026, with the results now awaiting clearance from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

UBA confirmed that the Nigerian Exchange Limited and the investing public will be informed immediately upon receiving the CBN's approval for the half-year financial statements. The bank also stated that its closed period will remain in effect until 24 hours after the audited results are officially released to the public.

In a separate board decision, UBA approved the appointment of Ibrahim Puri as a non-executive director. This appointment is also contingent upon regulatory approval from the CBN. Puri brings over 35 years of experience in financial services and corporate management, with a background in banking, fintech, telecommunications, and fast-moving consumer goods.

Puri previously served as an executive director on UBA's board until his retirement in 2022. He currently holds non-executive director positions at several other companies, including Nigerian Breweries Plc and 9mobile. UBA had previously informed the Nigerian Exchange and investors in July about the scheduled August 13 board meeting where the financial statements were to be reviewed.
