Uber to Shut Down Nigerian Operations

Uber is leaving Nigeria. The ride-hailing company told drivers on Wednesday that it will wind down its operations in the country from September 2, 2026.

From that date, drivers will no longer receive rider trip requests through the Uber app. Uber described the decision as difficult and thanked drivers for their role in its years of operation in Nigeria.

The notice did not explain why the company decided to leave after its business review. Uber’s Help Centre will remain available for questions until September 24, 2026. The shutdown marks the end of the company’s operations in a market where app-based transport services have become an important part of urban mobility.
