Uganda Muslims Urged to Unite for National Development

Muslims in Uganda have been called upon to shun internal divisions and instead champion national unity, justice, and peaceful coexistence. This message was conveyed by Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, the Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, during a thanksgiving ceremony organized by the Structured Imams and Amirats Assembly of Uganda.

The event celebrated President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his annual facilitation of Hajj opportunities for Muslim pilgrims. The Assembly Chairperson, Hajji Sheikh Said Kasawuli, expressed gratitude for the President's generosity in supporting Muslims to fulfill the Islamic pilgrimage. Minister Kabanda, delivering the Vice President's message, lauded the Muslim community for their efforts in fostering unity and their ongoing support for the country's leadership.

Beneficiaries of the Hajj program also thanked President Museveni and appealed for an increase in the number of Hajj slots facilitated through Sheikh Kasawuli's office, noting that the current arrangement benefits deserving Muslims.

He further explained that the Hajj opportunities are primarily intended for Imams and Muslims who cannot afford the pilgrimage, noting that some financially capable individuals have benefited, leaving few spots for those in genuine need. Maj. Ndiwalana and Parliament Imam, Ismail Lubega, echoed the call for unity and active participation in national development initiatives.
