Újpest set to sell new Hungarian signing Ákos Márkgróf to Copenhagen

Hungarian football club Újpest is reportedly on the verge of selling defender Ákos Márkgróf, a recent acquisition, to Danish side Copenhagen. Márkgróf, who joined Újpest from Puskás Akadémia in the summer and made his senior national team debut in June, was notably absent from the squad for their recent match against DVSC.

According to nb1.hu, Copenhagen has submitted an official offer for the 21-year-old defender, triggering a clause for his transfer. Márkgróf is expected to undergo medical examinations in the coming days before finalizing his move. This potential transfer comes just months after his arrival at Újpest, highlighting a swift change in his club career.

The Danish club, Copenhagen, is also set to face DVSC in the third qualifying round of the Conference League. While DVSC has progressed in European competition, they are currently facing difficulties in the Hungarian NB I league, being the only team with two losses so far. DVSC's head coach Gert Remmel expressed dissatisfaction with his team's performance, noting they could have scored more goals before halftime against Újpest but collapsed inexplicably in the second half, with substitutions failing to reignite their initial momentum.

Looking ahead, DVSC will host Nyíregyháza between their European fixtures, while Újpest is scheduled to visit Kisvárda in the next round of the Hungarian championship.
