Ukraine intensifies offensive with new bombings of Russian oil facilities

Ukraine has escalated its counteroffensive, striking oil facilities deep within Russia in retaliation for recent Moscow bombardments. The intensified attacks, which have targeted energy, logistics, port, and transport infrastructure, have caused fuel shortages and alarmed the Russian populace.

Kyiv reported successful strikes on a refinery in Russia's Bashkortostan republic, located more than 1,300 kilometers from the conflict front. Another refinery in the Yaroslavl region, approximately 700 kilometers from the combat line, was also targeted. These actions come after a Russian offensive involving missiles and drones on the Kyiv region left at least 17 dead and over 40 injured, intensifying Ukraine's urgent calls for more air defense supplies.

Meanwhile, Russia's Defense Ministry claimed to have downed 605 Ukrainian drones over more than twenty regions and Crimea. Among the targets were the Wildberries e-commerce group's logistics center in Tver, which sustained minor damage according to local authorities, though no casualties were reported. The United Nations office in Kyiv reported that 1,396 civilians were killed and 7,978 injured in Ukraine during the first six months of the year, a significant increase attributed to more long-range Russian airstrikes.
