Ukraine Strikes Russian Refineries; Russia Reports Kyiv Attacks

Ukraine has intensified its drone attacks on Russian oil infrastructure, targeting refineries in Ilski and Syzran overnight. Ukrainian military officials reported that fires broke out at both locations, indicating a continued effort to disrupt Russia's fuel supply and revenue streams.

These systematic strikes aim to cripple Russia's oil industry, a primary source of funding for its war effort. By targeting refineries, Ukraine seeks to cut off the Kremlin's main source of income. Local Russian authorities reported that five people were injured in the attack on the Ilski refinery.

Meanwhile, Russia claims its own forces conducted a successful strike against the Ukrainian defense manufacturer Fire Point. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that a production facility for parts and warheads for the Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile was hit, along with a fuel depot supplying the Ukrainian army. Russia provided no immediate evidence to support these claims.

In a separate development, Russian air attacks on the Kyiv region resulted in casualties. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that at least four people were killed, including a grandmother, grandfather, and their three-year-old grandson. State rescue services released images of a burning building. Four others were hospitalized due to the attack. An additional person was killed in Kyiv by an attack involving six ballistic missiles targeting civilian infrastructure.
