Ukraine strikes Russian rocket facility and air base with domestic missiles

Ukraine has demonstrated its long-range strike capabilities by hitting targets deep within Russia using domestically produced Flamingo cruise missiles. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukrainian forces successfully struck the Progress Centre rocket facility, which supports Russia's space agency Roscosmos, and the Savasleyka air base.

Zelenskyy emphasized that the targeted rocket facility plays a vital role in Russia's war machine, producing rocket technology and electronics. The Progress Centre is located approximately 900 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, showcasing Kyiv's ability to bring the war closer to home for Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Savasleyka air base is situated about 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

"Our plan of long-range sanctions against Russia for this war is being implemented, and it is important that Russia’s war potential be reduced. Peace is needed, and this must be evident in Russia – through concrete damage to specific facilities," Zelenskyy stated. He added that Ukraine's forces are implementing a strategy of long-range sanctions to diminish Russia's war capabilities.

Meanwhile, Russia is seeking clarification from the United States and Turkey regarding reports of a potential transfer of a "substantial arsenal" of U.S. weapons and ammunition held by Turkey to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that such a transfer would significantly harm relations between Russia and both countries.
