Ukraine war: Five dead in Russian strikes, Kyiv claims nine killed in cross-border attacks

Russian attacks on Ukraine resulted in at least five fatalities on Sunday, according to officials from both countries. In the eastern Dnipropetrovsk region, two individuals were killed by Russian strikes, while at least one person died in the southern regions of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson. Additionally, a Russian strike destroyed a sorting center in the northern Kharkiv region, killing a postal worker.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian strikes targeting Russia claimed at least nine lives on Sunday. Russia's Ministry of Defense stated that a total of 635 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight across several regions and the annexed Crimea.

Analysis of Ukrainian air force reports indicates that Russia fired a record number of missiles in July. The Russian military launched 376 missiles against Ukraine last month, more than double the number used in June. This escalation in missile usage underscores the intensity of the ongoing conflict.

In related news, U.S. President Donald Trump advised caution regarding the authorization of Ukraine producing missiles for American Patriot air defense systems, a request made by Kyiv.
