Ukrainian Drones Hit Oil Refinery, Warehouse in Russia's Volgograd

Ukrainian drone attacks have struck industrial and logistics targets in Russia's Volgograd region, igniting fires at a major oil refinery and a large e-commerce warehouse. Governor Andrey Bocharov confirmed the drone assault on Tuesday, though he did not immediately specify the exact facilities hit. The region is known to host a Lukoil oil refinery, a key piece of Russia's energy infrastructure.

Bocharov reported that five people were injured in the attacks. Wildberries, Russia's largest online retailer, confirmed that a fire broke out at its logistics center in Volgograd as a result of the incident. This marks a recent expansion of Ukrainian targets, as Kyiv has increasingly focused on disrupting Russia's energy sector and supply chains.

In recent months, Ukraine has ramped up its drone operations deep inside Russian territory, frequently targeting oil processing facilities. These strikes have contributed to fuel shortages within Russia. The targeting of Wildberries logistics centers, which began this month, suggests a broader strategy to disrupt Russian economic operations beyond just the energy sector.
