UN reaches agreement on text concerning lethal autonomous weapons

Nearly 130 countries agreed on Saturday on a text defining lethal autonomous weapons systems, known by critics as “killer robots”. The agreement marks the first step toward negotiations on an international treaty to regulate them.

The agreed text has not yet been made public. Campaign groups monitoring the talks have already criticized leading countries for dragging out the issue.
