'Unacceptable Activity': IDF Condemns Israeli Settlers Taking Over Palestinian Homes, Land in West Bank

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a strong condemnation Tuesday against Israeli civilians who have reportedly taken control of Palestinian homes and land in the Qusra and Jalud areas of the West Bank. The military described the actions as "illegal, reprehensible, and unacceptable activity that harms the local residents and disrupts their daily lives."

In response to these reports, the IDF announced the establishment of a closed military zone encompassing the affected areas. Access is now restricted to Palestinian residents only. The IDF emphasized that any future handling of individuals involved in such incidents will be conducted in coordination with security forces. Furthermore, the military stated that any IDF reservists or active-duty soldiers found participating in these takeovers would face disciplinary measures.

The IDF also addressed a specific incident on Monday where Israeli civilians attempted to bypass a military checkpoint using an ambulance to enter a Palestinian home within the designated closed military zone. IDF soldiers inspected the vehicle upon its arrival at the checkpoint, discovering Israeli civilians concealed inside. Israeli police were subsequently summoned for further investigation.

The IDF routinely permits the passage of medical teams and ambulances that have coordinated their movements in advance, allowing them to pass through checkpoints without inspection. This incident highlights the tension and conflict arising from settler activities in the occupied West Bank.
