"Unacceptable praise for SNS councilors": People's Movement of Serbia dissolves Vršac municipal board

The People's Movement of Serbia (NPS) announced on July 6, 2026, that it has dissolved its municipal board in Vršac. The party stated the decision was made due to actions contrary to the party's values, principles, and policies.

Specifically, the NPS cited the Vršac board's praise for councilors of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) as unacceptable. The NPS released a statement emphasizing that there can be no compromises in their struggle, as they are fighting against what they describe as a "criminal organization that has captured the state and institutions."

The party asserted that any concession to such a regime constitutes a betrayal of citizens striving for a free and normal Serbia. The NPS, with 146 local boards and over 200 councilors nationwide, has committed to maintaining its consistent and principled actions since its founding.

This move underscores the deep political divisions in Serbia and the NPS's firm stance against the ruling party, framing the political landscape as a battle against a corrupt regime.
