UNAM assigns exam centers, sparking student complaints over costs and travel

The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) is facing applicant discontent over the assigned locations for its upcoming in-person control exam. Students report that the assigned venues will significantly increase their travel expenses and time.

UNAM explained that the assignment process considered regionalization criteria to minimize these issues. The university has also stated that changes to the assigned exam centers are not possible. In a message to registered applicants, UNAM acknowledged the effort involved in attending the exam and assured that resources have been allocated to ensure a safe, orderly, and equitable process.

The National Autonomous University of Mexico thanks you for your willingness to attend the control exam. We know this process involves time, organization, and, in some cases, travel from your place of residence; therefore, we have strived to create the best conditions for you to carry out your evaluation with tranquility, security, and under equal circumstances.

Despite the university's assurances, many applicants and their families have voiced their concerns. They are demanding that their concerns be respected. UNAM has advised all applicants to check their assigned venue in advance, plan their commute considering potential traffic, arrive punctually with valid identification and their printed exam appointment, and ensure they are well-rested for the evaluation.
